Shana Thornton

Shana Thornton is an author, publisher, and the Montgomery County Deputy Historian. She is the author of four works of fiction, Ripe for the Pickin’ (2022), The Adventures to Pawnassus (2019), Poke Sallet Queen and the Family Medicine Wheel(2015) and Multiple Exposure (2012). Shana enjoys writing as well as working with authors. In 2012, she opened Thorncraft Publishing, an independent publisher of literature, novels and creative nonfiction by women authors. Shana believes in using the written word to become involved in the community where she lives. She is the Founder of the Clarksville Montgomery County African American Legacy Trail (2019), a free community publication in print and online.

She’s the President of the Friends of Dunbar Cave, Inc. and a member of Mt. Olive Cemetery Historical Preservation Society.

She is Managing Editor of Second & Commerce magazine, the Customs House Museum’s arts, history, and culture magazine.
